Music & Poetry of Palestine

A Concert of Solidarity and Survival

"...we know too well that our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinians..."

The Story Behind the Notes

Art cannot be silenced, and neither can the human spirit. I am Mahmoud Abuwarda, a Palestinian composer currently living in exile in Istanbul. My music is my voice, my memory, and my unwavering connection to my homeland.

While physical borders and exile may keep me from returning home, my music continues to travel the world. This Mandela Day, the incredible artistic community of Cape Town, South Africa, is standing in profound solidarity with me. Local musicians and actors are joining forces to host a special fundraising concert to perform the world premiere of my newest compositions.

This evening is more than just a performance; it is a lifeline. All proceeds from ticket sales and donations will go directly toward supporting my livelihood and continuing my work as an artist in exile. Through music and poetry, we bridge the distance between Istanbul, Cape Town, and Palestine.

Support from Afar: Keep the Music Alive

Can’t make it to Cape Town? You can still be a crucial part of this journey.

Exile is an immense challenge, both emotionally and practically. For those who are unable to attend the concert but still wish to stand in solidarity, I have set up a direct donation campaign. Your contribution, no matter the size, provides me with the vital support needed to survive in exile and continue writing the music that tells our story to the world.

Thank You

To the musicians in Cape Town giving breath to my notes, to the audience sitting in the pews, and to everyone supporting me from across the globe: Thank you. Your solidarity reminds me that I am not walking this path alone.

From Istanbul to Cape Town, to a free Palestine.
