Note
“Last Solo” is a personal and emotional response to the war in Gaza, where my family faced unimaginable hardship. As they were displaced from their homes, seeking refuge in tents and moving from one place to another to escape the constant threat of death and
destruction, I turned to music to process the overwhelming sense of fear, loss, and helplessness.
Composed at the end of December, a time when many look forward to new beginnings, this piece reflects my hope that the year’s end would also mark the end of suffering, displacement, and war for my family and all those affected in Gaza. The solitary voice of the guitar mirrors the isolation and uncertainty of those moments, while its contemporary language—marked by dissonance, abrupt shifts, and fragile melodies—captures both the chaos of conflict and the faint, persistent hope for peace.
“Last Solo” is both a tribute to my family’s resilience and a meditation on the power of hope in the face of overwhelming darkness. Through this piece, I aim to give voice to the silent struggles of those enduring war, and to hold onto the possibility that even in the darkest times, there is a path toward healing.
